Our clients three storey 1970s townhouse in Ealing, West London is common of the era cheaply constructed and lacking character. Our clients changing lifestyle has meant the house doesn’t work for them anymore, they needed a new dimension.
The existing kitchen / diner will be joined to the new south facing 14m2 extension which steps down into the garden. The extension will add a social dimension to the ground floor giving much needed lounge space . The space uses a faceted perforated soffit series of elements to create a bespoke and elegant light feature. These panels are framed by dark profiled timbers creating a grid.
The space aims to create a connection to nature allowing plants to grow inside and out. The majority of structure is made from engineered timber. We have minimised the amount of steel and concrete used in the structure and foundations to ensure this building has a sustainable low carbon footprint.
